John Barwood After years festering in my head, many months in a small, damp, and considering the amount of electric we were pulling, dangerous basement, countless cups of coffee, tears, two all too quick days in the studio, and the occasional tantrum, my debut album, "Better Than Blood" is finally finished. This record brings together two of my favourite musicians: Emlyn Vaughan on bass who always manages to keep the group grounded with his equal love of both Jaco and Flea, and the ceasless deep groove of Bas Hankins, who keeps the backbeat sounding fat wherever we find ourselves.

Inertia Trio is the product of a long battle with myself over how to assimilate the increasing number of sounds and textures I was hearing and still develop a coherent and unifying band sound. This is not something I feel I’m close to resolving yet but as Winston Churchill said, "If your going through hell, keep going!” Hopefully this album is the first of many in this journey which will throw up many interesting moments along the way. Maybe I will never find it but maybe that's the point. And anyway, god loves a sinner! JB
